Many of us long for the playing style of the 80’s and early 90s. Believing the more physical style of play was a purer game of basketball. That today’s game of no hand-checking and quick whistles turned the league into a much too soft style of play.

Gone are the days of the Detroit “Bad Boys” or the New York Knicks teams of the 90’s. Gone are the days of the Pistons vs Celtics or the Knicks vs Bulls. The enforcer seems to have become a thing of the past. Elbows and opponents hitting the paint seem to be a thing of the past.

Tough guys in the NBA are few and far between these days. The players who antagonized the other team and then had the gaul to back it up. The big men who would throw any opposing player to the floor, who dared drive in their lane.

For those of you who miss the more physical style of play in the NBA, here is a list of the Top 10 Enforcers in NBA history. Men who you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley. Players whose opponents hated them and teammates loved them. Members of the franchise who protected their star players and would do anything it took to win it all.
