The shooting guard’s main responsibility on the hardwood is to score the basketball. The 2-position has historically been able to create his shot in a variety of ways. From isolation moves, jump shots, ability to put the ball on the floor and creating his own shot–shooting guards are needed to score for their team from anywhere and at anytime.

These players are usually fan favorites due to their superior athletic ability. Pleasing fans at home with their showmanship and ability to score in crunch time. On the road, becoming villains without a conscience, silencing buildings with heart breaking shots.

The great shooting guards want the ball in the clutch. Are able to get buckets for their teams when they need them the most.
